Sebastian Forster - Do what ever it takes to protect your gift. Never let the joy be compromised.
Concert Pianist Sebastian Forster remembered having two calls to become a pianist. The first was when he was little, learning to play the Bach little prelude in C minor and choral harmonic structure already awaken something in him like a spirituality and resilience that is transmitted in Bach's music. Then secondly, it was Mozart's music that created the final spark. "With the simplicity and spontaneity that Mozart actually built empires, such longing and such dialogue between instruments, that incredible teamwork when I was listening to the orchestra, gave me the faith and courage to move on as a musician." Sebastian also talks about his most joyful years in music since living in the US where he is also now teaching piano to students all over the world. His advice to young artists is: "Do what ever it takes to protect your gift and never let the joy be compromised."
