Scott B Hart - Magpie Art Collective - Transforming recycled items into works of art and chandeliers
''It was the magic of the transformation. To see the stuff on the street, to take it in, and even not to wash it but to start using it as it was, and that ended up being that double tiered piece..." says Scott Hart from Magpie Art Collective in the small town of Barrydale in the Western Cape. Scott is talking from his studio where he is creating the most spectacular art works in the form of Chandeliers from items that he recycles. He is using things that gets thrown away like bottle caps, plastic bottles and many more items that society considers as "garbage". Not only is Scott creating these beautiful pieces of art, but he is involved in the community in Barrydale to add value to the lives of the people. Scott tells how much his late partner Shane had so much understanding and acceptance of people around him in this community and how his work lives on in the lives of the people he had contact with. Together Shane and Scott started this magnificent Magpie Art Collective studio and now Scott is continuing this wonderful work after Shane passed away only 6 months before the time of this interview. I applaud Scott for the wonderful work he is doing.
