Hendré Barnard - Just go out there and do something different. Be the renegade.
"You need to be the renegade. You need to be the gorilla and just go out there and try something totally different," say Master distiller, Hendré Barnard from Jim and Tonic Distillery. He believes that within the rules the boundaries should be pushed to create something that is unique and different. Hendré is also talking about the how the Jim and Tonic distillery is aware of their carbon footprint and the different ways it tries to make the day to day production of the distillery environmentally friendly. The distillery is based in London and they are also doing workshops and training for people who are interested in learning the art of distilling. Hendré introduces the different gins of the distillery and he explains how the different flavours are put together to create the different types of gin.
My view point about Gins are a bit different. I don't necessarily agree with the idea that you have to have large numbers of botanicals to make a good gin. I feel that if you limit yourself to just a few botanicals, you actually create a gin that for the consumer, is more interesting.
Hear more about the origin of the name of the distillery and also Hendré's wishes for the future.
