Revolutionizing Dance: The Power of Dance Science with Anna Schrefl
In this video, I talk with with Anna Schrefl, a highly experienced dance professional with a rich background in contemporary dance and dance science. Originally from Austria, Anna has studied at prestigious institutions like the Amsterdam University of the Arts and Codarts in Rotterdam. She holds a MAS in Dance Science from the University of Bern and an MSc in Dance Science from the University of Wolverhampton. With years of experience as a freelance choreographer for various dance, theater, and music productions, Anna has also earned certifications as a Pilates instructor in New York and lectures on Spiraldynamik®—a concept that explores functional anatomy.
In this conversation, Anna shares insights into her 20+ years of experience as a trainer for classical, contemporary, and musical dancers, and how dance science plays a critical role in improving the performance, health, and longevity of dancers. We also dive into her current work as a guest lecturer at the Zurich University of the Arts and her doctoral research at the University of Bern.
Dance science is such an essential part of today’s dance world—it helps dancers prevent injury, optimize movement, and better understand the mechanics of their bodies. If you’re a dancer, teacher, or simply passionate about the intersection of movement and science, this interview is packed with valuable knowledge. Don’t miss it!
